Checklist Items

Follow these steps to inspect your roof:

1. Exterior Roof Inspection

• Check for missing, cracked, or curling shingles.
• Inspect flashing around chimneys, vents, and skylights for damage or rust.
• Ensure gutters and downspouts are securely attached and free of debris.
• Examine eaves and soffits for signs of water damage or rot.
• Look for moss or algae growth, which can indicate moisture issues.
• Check the ridge and hip shingles for proper attachment and condition.

2. Interior Roof Inspection

• Check for signs of water leaks or stains on ceilings and walls.
• Inspect attic for proper ventilation and signs of moisture or mold.
• Ensure insulation is dry and intact, without signs of compression or dampness.
• Look for daylight coming through the roof boards, indicating holes or gaps.

3. General Condition

• Remove any debris (branches, leaves) from the roof.
• Look for any visible sagging or structural issues.
• Check that all drainage points are clear and free of blockages.
• Look for signs of pest infestations, such as nests or droppings.
